CEO Announces Retirement

Dave Lock, Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative Association’s (GCSECA) chief executive officer, announced he will retire on May 1. The date occurs shortly after his 7th year at the helm of the organization

“It’s been a great privilege to work with the amazing Arizona rural electric co-op family,” Dave says. “I’m very proud of the GCSECA team and how we’ve worked together to grow our 75-year-old association and of the many accomplishments we’ve achieved.”

Dave joined GCSECA in April 2019. He has spent most of his career working for community-owned power entities. He served as the city manager of 2 public power communities in Colorado and assistant to the city manager in another. He also ran the Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities and worked in executive capacities at Platte River Power Authority and Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, both headquartered in Colorado.

“Dave has served us extremely well,” says Chuck Moore, CEO of Navopache Electric Cooperative and GCSECA board president. “He has positioned GCSECA for the future and will be leaving behind a legacy of thoughtful leadership. Dave will be greatly missed when his retirement date arrives.”

Dave has served on and chaired numerous boards of directors. He is currently the Pioneer Utility Resources board chair, an Oregon-based communications cooperative that provides services to rural electric cooperatives and public power entities across the United States.

GCSECA’s board has embarked on a nationwide search to find Dave’s replacement.
