MEC Awards $10,000 in Scholarships

Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) is proud to announce 6 student winners of its 2025 scholarship program. A total of 24 applications were received. Thanks to MEC’s executive leadership, students in the co-op’s service area attending a higher education institution this fall semester were eligible to apply for assistance.
A panel of judges selected six student winners:
- Shea Amann will attend Arizona State University.
- Rachel Barton will attend the University of Arizona.
- Christopher Boggs will attend Montana State University.
- Christy Cerjance will attend Grand Canyon University.
- Savanah Furr will attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott.
- Anthony Siyuja will attend Coconino Community College.
Each of the 6 students received a $1,667 scholarship to the college where they are enrolled, for a total of $10,000.
“MEC is proud to continue providing the tools and resources, if and when we can, to students who are furthering their educational goals and who took the time to complete the application to be considered for MEC’s scholarship,” MEC CEO Tyler Carlson says. “Congratulations to each of these students. MEC is excited to see their futures unfold.”
Tyler envisioned a supplementary, MEC-awarded college scholarship and put into action an investment fund for member education programs. These funds are held separately from rates and are earmarked for community projects benefiting MEC members. This annual scholarship is in addition to the thousands of dollars provided for other MEC educational programs, including Mohave Community College student scholarships, MEC’s Classroom Grants, the Washington Youth Tour, Making Accidents Disappear elementary school magic show, SunWatts Renewable Energy Education Grant, and the partnership with Western Governors University.
Education, Training, and Information are part of the Seven Cooperative Principles upheld by MEC to support the future of even the youngest members.
