Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative Association (GCSECA) was honored to celebrate 75 years of serving our cooperative members during the annual Winter Meeting and Legislative Conference. This year, GCSECA hosted again in Tempe but at a new venue, with the meeting adjourning at Rustler’s Rooste at the annual Legislative Roundup.

Guests enjoyed networking with co-op and industry leaders and professionals from across the state and nation. At the general session, Arizona Youth Leadership Council Representative Lauren Jones from Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative presented on how electric co-ops shape the youth of our communities. For the keynote address, Noble Insights Founder and CEO Mike Noble delivered a breakdown of the 2024 election analysis.

Attendees participated in a Q&A session with Arizona Corporation Commissioners Lea Márquez Peterson and newly-elected Rachel Walden. The session focused on how electric co-ops across the country are presenting a unified front, and how Arizona’s electric co-ops continue to work hand in hand on issues within the state.

Following the general session, GCSECA’s Legislative Conference hosted visits and face-to-face appointments with legislators at the Arizona Capitol. Immediately following, guests, industry leaders, staffers, and legislators enjoyed an evening of networking and food at Rustler’s Rooste Crystal Barn for our annual Legislative Roundup.

The week concluded with co-op directors participating in a professional development course focused on the evolution of cooperatives’ power supply and various GCSECA committee meetings.

GCSECA takes pride in advocating for and with its members, providing opportunities to continue to connect with industry and community leaders. We look forward to hosting our Summer Meeting in Flagstaff on July 21 through 24.
